Job Description

KRC.0715.0707.09C This Hospital is a physician-owned full-service regional hospital situated in North Central, Kansas. This full-time general surgeon would see patients in our rural health clinic, located on the second floor of the hospital. The staff surgeon would be joining one full-time surgeon and one part-time surgeon for 1-in-3 call coverage at our 33-bed facility. We have four operating rooms with quick turnaround times, and our 33-bed facility features a 4-bay ICU and a hospitalist program available. Our facility is a Level IV trauma center with 24/7 emergency room services. We contract with an experienced anesthesia group that includes one anesthesiologist and three nurse anesthetists, one of which is available 24/7.

This facility has the latest technology, including brand new Olympus GI scopes. We have very low infection rates, which is aided by our very high nurse-to-patient ratio (1 nurse for every 4 patients maximum). We have state-of-the-art imaging equipment, with most being purchased in the last 2-5 years and the oldest equipment purchased in 2009. The majority of our surgical staff has been in place since our facility opened in 2001 as a surgery and diagnostic center. When we expanded to a full-service hospital in 2009, the team grew to accommodate our ever-growing case load.

Current staffing is one full-time surgeon and one part-time surgeon three days per week.  The schedule would be 4.5 day work week - split between clinic and surgery with call coverage 1:3, Monday through Friday. Regular operating room hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., but 24/7 surgical staff and anesthesia are on call for emergent cases.

Contract duration of 12-24 months  with benefits to include a competitive salary of $350k-$450k, with Sign On Bonus, Performance Incentives, as well as Malpractice insurance, Health Insurance, Dental Insurance, Life Insurance, Long-Term Disability Insurance, Retirement, CME Allowance, Relocation Costs, and there may even be Loan Forgiveness available. Also offer free meals in the hospital cafeteria. Providers enjoy 20 paid days off per year, promoting a healthy work-life balance.

Practice located in 15,000 population community, centered in a 28,000 population service area.

Come join some of the friendliest people at our beautiful downtown square. The square is the focal point for many local festivals scheduled throughout the year including concerts, dances and ice skating in the winter.   Our parks are second to none. There are picnic areas, a fishing lake, pedal boats/kayaks, waterfall features, lighted softball and baseball diamonds, tennis courts, horseshoe pits, a BMX bike park, one of the best skate board parks in Western and Central Kansas and our renowned local zoo.  It is located near our Wildlife Refuge.  Bird watchers and naturalists visit this area for its abundant birding and wildlife photography opportunities.  Our community has a nationally recognized holiday light display.  We also have one of the most diverse economic bases you will find.  This is home to an excellent school system and community college.
