Job Description

The University of California, Davis, School of Medicine, Department of Radiology is actively recruiting for a full-time Diagnostic Pediatric Radiologist. Candidates must possess an M.D., D.O., or equivalent degree and be ABR-certifying eligible or equivalent. They must be able to obtain licensure in the State of California. Expertise in most aspects of General Pediatric Radiology (excluding Neuroradiology, Interventional radiology, and Nuclear medicine) is required, and the successful candidate is expected to teach medical students, residents, and fellows. Fellowship training in Pediatric Radiology and CAQ eligibility is preferred. Scholarly or creative activity is required, depending on the level of interest in performing research, the successful candidate may join our clinician/educator track or our clinician/research track with protected administration time incorporated into each track.

Clinical responsibilities include all areas of Pediatric Radiology (radiographs, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, CT, and MRI). Clinical service coverage is divided between UC Davis Children’s Hospital and Shriners Hospital for Children. Daily and call coverage is divided equally among all faculty within the section. Most teaching is conducted during daily read outs with residents. The Pediatric Radiology faculty also share in the section’s responsibility to deliver didactic and case based conferences to Radiology residents and medical students rotating in Radiology. The successful candidate will have the ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment as participation in multidisciplinary conferences is expected. It is expected that faculty will be actively involved in University and Public service.

The Department of Radiology performs approximately 400,000 examinations per year and has 40 full-time faculty, including four Pediatric Radiologists. We currently have seven CT Scanners (including dual energy, 128-slice, and 64-slice scanners). MRI consists of six clinical 1.5T scanners, one clinical 3T magnet, and an open 0.7T scanner, the latter soon to be replaced by a wide bore magnet. There are additional 1.5 and 3T systems in the adjacent Imaging Research Center. There is a brand new pediatric Philips Grid-Controlled Fluoroscopy unit. Ultrasound equipment and PET-CT are state-of-the art. UCDMC provides a fully-integrated electronic medical records system, fully digital Radiology Department, and active multidisciplinary collaboration with other departments. The EOS imaging system at the adjacent Shriners Hospital is the first of its kind in the Shriners system. UCDMC has the first children’s hospital on the west coast and the fourth in the nation to be designated a center for Children’s Surgery Performance Improvement and Patient Safety (CSPIPS).
