Job Title: Physician - Otolaryngology - Skull Base and Ablative Head and Neck Surgery Fellow Department:

The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek a Skull and Ablative Head and Neck Surgery Fellow to join the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.

Position Overview

Our high-volume institution offers comprehensive multidisciplinary care. The Skull Base and Ablative Head and Neck Surgery Fellowship is conducted within a collaborative surgical environment that embraces a team surgery approach. The fellow is trained in the management of skull base lesions, including open and endoscopic skull base surgery, typically logging over 150 skull base surgeries annually. Approximately 25% of our patients with skull base lesions require an open or hybrid approach, while the remaining are managed through endoscopic endonasal or other minimal access approaches to tackle a diversity of pathologies such as, defects in the skull base associated with CSF leaks, pituitary tumors, and other benign and malignant tumors involving the skull base and sinonasal tract. In addition to the robust skull base surgery experience, the fellowship includes a wide spectrum of ablative head and neck oncologic surgeries for mucosal, salivary, and endocrine malignancies.

The fellow is expected to help run a weekly planning conference to discuss management strategies, participate in the head and neck tumor board, engage in clinical research projects and attend conferences. The fellow has an Instructor-Practice faculty appointment and functions as a junior faculty as well as a fellow trainee. This allows the fellow to independently staff surgical cases and teach residents.

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery has been a distinct academic department since its inception. This long-standing departmental autonomy has fostered accelerated growth and the expansion of diverse initiatives in patient care, research, and education.
