JOB SUMMARY

This role focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with allergic and

immunologic conditions. The ideal candidate is committed to providing high-quality, patient

centered care in a collaborative and community-focused environment.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with allergies, asthma, and related immunologic disorders

Perform and interpret diagnostic tests, including skin prick testing, patch testing, and pulmonary function tests

Develop individualized treatment plans, including immunotherapy and medication management

Educate patients and families on disease management, prevention strategies, and environmental controls

Maintain accurate and timely medical records in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards

Collaborate with primary care providers and other specialists to ensure coordinated care

Stay current with advancements in allergy and immunology practices

Requirements:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree

Board certification or eligibility in Allergy and Immunology

Active and unrestricted medical license in North Carolina

Strong clinical and diagnostic skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

Commitment to patient-centered care and community health

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in a rural or community health setting

Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems E-Clinical Works

Interest in patient education and outreach initiatives

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The position requires the ability to perform essential clinical functions in an outpatient healthcare

setting, with or without reasonable accommodation. This includes the ability to stand and walk

for extended periods; sit for prolonged documentation; and frequently bend, reach, and move

between exam and procedure rooms. The provider must possess sufficient manual dexterity to

perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including allergy skin testing and administration

of immunotherapy injections. Visual acuity (with or without correction) is required to accurately

assess patients and interpret clinical findings, including subtle dermatologic changes, and to

read medical documentation. Auditory ability (with or without assistive devices) is necessary for

effective communication with patients and staff and to recognize clinical alarms or patient

distress. The role requires the ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and to assist with patient

positioning as needed. The provider must be able to respond promptly to urgent and emergent

situations, including allergic reactions, and to work in an environment with potential exposure to

allergens, biological materials, and other clinical hazards.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is based in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) providing outpatient specialty care in Allergy and Immunology. The clinical environment is fast-paced, mission-driven, and focused on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to a diverse and underserved population.

The provider works as part of an interdisciplinary team within a primary care-integrated setting, collaborating closely with primary care, nursing, and care coordination staff to support comprehensive management of allergic and immunologic conditions.

Work is primarily conducted in outpatient clinic settings with access to electronic health records for documentation and care coordination. The role may involve occasional exposure to infectious diseases and requires adherence to standard clinical safety protocols. Flexible scheduling may be required based on patient access needs.
