Emergency Room Physician Responsibilities
Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with acute and emergent conditions
Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations
Stabilize and resuscitate patients, managing medical and surgical emergencies
Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests including laboratory and imaging studies
Perform emergency procedures including:
Laceration repair and wound care
Incision and drainage
Fracture stabilization, casting, and splinting
Procedural sedation
Lumbar puncture, thoracentesis, and arthrocentesis
Airway management and vascular access
Administer medications and develop treatment plans
Coordinate patient disposition including admission, transfer, or discharge
Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment, and follow-up care
Document patient encounters accurately and timely in the medical record
Collaborate with nursing staff, specialists, and interdisciplinary teams
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs

Completion of an accredited residency program (minimum 3 years)
Active Michigan medical license required
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine preferred
Strong clinical judgment and ability to work in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment
