On - Call Physician ( Per Diem )

Position Overview

An urgent care in Concord is seeking a reliable and experienced On-Call Physician to provide clinical coverage on an as-needed basis. This role is ideal for physicians looking for flexible scheduling while supporting a fast-paced urgent care environment.

The On-Call Physician will be responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care, supporting clinic operations during peak times or provider absences, and ensuring continuity of care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide urgent care and primary care services for walk-in patients of all ages

• Diagnose and treat acute illnesses, minor injuries, and common conditions

• Perform and interpret procedures such as:

  • Laceration repair

  • Incision and drainage

  • Splinting

  • EKG interpretation

• Review and act on lab and imaging results

• Prescribe medications in accordance with clinical guidelines

• Collaborate with Medical Assistants and clinic staff to ensure efficient patient flow

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in EMR

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school

• Active California medical license (required)

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in:

  • Family Medicine

  • Internal Medicine

  • Emergency Medicine

• Current DEA license

• BLS and ACLS certification preferred

• Prior experience in urgent care, emergency medicine, or primary care strongly preferred

Work Schedule

• Flexible, on-call/per diem 10-12 hours shifts 

• Coverage may include:

  • Evenings

  • Weekends

  • Holidays

• Ability to respond to short-notice scheduling needs is preferred
