Responsibilities
+ Provide inpatient obstetric care including labor management, triage evaluations, vaginal deliveries, emergency obstetric procedures, gynecologial emergency room coverage, and postpartum care.
+ Serve as the on-site physician for labor and delivery coverage, responding to obstetric emergencies and urgent patient care needs.
+ Collaborate closely with community OB/ GYN physicians, certified nurse midwives, nursing teams, anesthesiology, neonatology, and hospital staff to ensure safe and efficient patient care.
+ Perform obstetric procedures consistent with training and credentialing, including operative vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections when indicated.
+ Evaluate and manage obstetric patients presenting through the emergency department or labor and delivery triage.
+ Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, patient safety initiatives, and quality improvement programs focused on maternal and neonatal outcomes.
+ Maintain timely, accurate, and thorough documentation within the electronic medical record system.
+ Support system-wide clinical protocols and evidence-based practices aligned with Prime Healthcare standards.
+ Provide coverage across affiliated hospital campuses as part of an integrated OB Hospitalist program.
Qualifications
+ MD or DO from an accredited medical school
+ Board Certified or Board Eligible in Obstetrics & Gynecology
+ Fellowship training or prior experience in OB Hospitalist/Laborist practice preferred, but not required
+ Eligible for or able to obtain a Maine medical license
+ Active DEA registration
+ Current certifications in ACLS , BLS , and NRP preferred
+ Strong clinical, surgical, communication, and collaborative skills
