Department: SOM KC Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation ----- Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Position Title: Assistant Professor- Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Job Family Group: Academic Job Description Summary: The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Kansas Medical Center is seeking an additional BC/BE physiatrist for full time faculty position with training and interest in Medical Director of Inpatient Rehabilitation at a free-standing, community-based rehabilitation hospital. Applicants are hired at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Professor (tenure or non-tenure track) based on experience. All faculty are required to take an active role in our integrated residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Job Description: Job Duties Outlined Provide visible physician leadership, clinical oversight, and regulatory stewardship to deliver safe, high-quality, patient-centered inpatient rehabilitation care while advancing performance, culture, growth, and reputation. Manage inpatient rehabilitation unit service, inpatient consultation service, along with teaching and scholarly activity. Collaborate with referring services and other departments as appropriate to ensure transitions across the continuum of care. Establish a community-based consultation service at other locations as appropriate. Lecture to PM&R residents and students. Attend Grand Rounds as scheduled. This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have the foundational knowledge and skill set required to perform the duties of the position. The level of degree is based on accreditation requirements, institutional standards of academic and professional excellence, alignment with peer institution benchmarks, and contributes to the credibility and effectiveness of the role within the university community. Certifications/Licenses: Board Certified/ Board eligible in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Work Experience: Experience with medical management of rehabilitation needs for patients during inpatient rehabilitation including medically complex, neurologic or orthopedic diagnoses. Preferred Qualifications Work Experience: Administrative experience in inpatient rehabilitation settings.
