Pediatrician Jobs in Ohio, IL

In the medical field, a Pediatrician holds an integral role in maintaining the health and wellness of children ranging from newborns to young adults. They provide preventative health maintenance for healthy children and medical care for children who are acutely or chronically ill. Pediatricians are involved in the detection of any health problems early on, carrying out diagnosis, and prescribing treatment measures which may include medication, therapy or surgery. Additionally, they advise parents and guardians on children's diet, exercise, hygiene and disease prevention.

An aspirant Pediatrician should hold a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree, and have completed a residency in pediatrics. Certification from the American Board of Pediatrics is also necessary. Important skills they should have include exceptional communication to effectively interact with both children and parents, problem-solving to diagnose and treat a variety of illnesses, and empathy to understand and respond to children's physical and emotional needs. Before becoming a Pediatrician, an individual may have roles such as a Medical Intern, Resident Physician in Pediatrics, or a Pediatric Fellowship Trainee.
