Plastic Surgeon Jobs
A Plastic Surgeon is a crucial professional in the medical field, responsible for performing surgeries that aim to repair, restore, or improve the physical appearance or function of certain body parts. These include surgeries due to birth defects, trauma, burns, disease, or cosmetic reasons. Beyond surgical skills, they should also have excellent communication and decision-making skills, with the ability to work under pressure. The ability to consult with patients and provide them with a realistic outlook on the results they can expect from surgery is also crucial.
In terms of qualifications, a Plastic Surgeon must undergo extensive education and training. Firstly, they need an undergraduate degree, followed by a medical degree. They should then complete a 6-year residency in plastic surgery, some even pursue a fellowship for specialization. They must also be certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Before becoming a Plastic Surgeon, a person may have worked as a general physician, a surgical intern, or a resident in general surgery.
