AP/CP General Surgical Pathologist/Medical Director

Full-time | Days (Rotating Weekends)

Position Overview:

A full-time, hospital-based leadership opportunity is available for a Market Medical Director overseeing multiple facilities within a regional healthcare market. This role combines administrative leadership with clinical responsibilities, supporting high-quality pathology services across several hospitals and affiliated sites in a dynamic, patient-centered environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide medical and administrative leadership across assigned facilities

Participate in committees, scheduling, workload distribution, and quality management initiatives

Oversee laboratory operations, test utilization, and clinical compliance

Perform anatomic pathology case sign-out, frozen sections, FNAs, and consultations

Lead tumor board participation and support interdisciplinary collaboration

Build strong relationships with hospital leadership and pathology teams

Mentor and support development of junior pathologists

Practice Environment:

Collaborative team setting with pathology and support staff

Diverse and high-volume case mix in a hospital-based setting

No autopsy or gynecologic cytology responsibilities

Qualifications:

Board Certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology (AP/CP)

3-5 years of experience as a Medical Director in a hospital setting (multi-site experience preferred)

Active state medical license or in progress

Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills

Experience managing or mentoring pathologists
