Build a High-Impact Practice in a Physician-Led Environment
Animas Orthopedics in Durango, Colorado is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Total Joint Surgeon to join our established, multi-specialty orthopedic group.
This is a high-opportunity role for a surgeon who wants to grow a robust total joint practice, contribute to a collaborative care model, and help shape orthopedic services in a growing community.
About the Practice
For over 25 years, Animas Orthopedics has provided comprehensive musculoskeletal care supported by a strong referral network and a loyal patient base.
You’ll join a collegial, physician-led team with experienced clinical and administrative support, modern facilities, advanced imaging, and dedicated OR access.
This position offers:
- Primary focus on hip and knee arthroplasty, including primary and revision cases
- Opportunity to build and shape your own total joint program
- Immediate access to strong internal and community referral streams
- A practice environment that balances autonomy with collaboration with access to a PA
- Access to a surgical hospital, surgical center and robotic reconstruction technology
Key Responsibilities
- Perform primary and revision total joint arthroplasty (hip and knee) using evidence-based techniques
- Evaluate and manage patients with degenerative joint disease and related conditions
- Deliver comprehensive perioperative care to optimize outcomes and patient experience
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across anesthesia, nursing, rehab, and care coordination
- Participate in shared 1 in 6 call coverage and inpatient rounding
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the EMR
- Engage in quality improvement and outcomes tracking initiatives
- Contribute to the growth and strategic direction of the orthopedic service line
- Build strong relationships with referring providers and the broader medical community
Qualifications
- MD or DO from an accredited institution
- Completion of Orthopedic Surgery residency
- Fellowship in Adult Reconstruction / Total Joint (preferred)
- Board-certified or board-eligible in Orthopedic surgery
- Eligible for Colorado licensure
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills
